the maiden voyage of the Queen Mary was a major event in 1936. She was a fantastic ship, representing the modern age, a supreme example of British engineering, offering a unique experience to travellers. Our Henry Hall was there and I have seen a short film clip of the ship's band (Discovery Channel, The Liners), led by Eddie Carroll and conducted by Henry, but I've not seen it again to make a copy!

| other examples of First Day Covers, these are dated 26 May 1936 which I would say was the day before the start of the voyage, but again these letters would have travelled on the maiden voyage. Thank you to Mr Graham Sutton for the top example.
