It was Pete March's idea, he wrote:
"It has well been accepted that, since major publishing companies of popular dance band music ended reprinting their old music catalogue stocks, there is a need for a means of exchanging information regarding the global stock of old dance band music. Now the "Old Dance Band Music Exchange" notice board has been formed covering topics such as: Music for sale, collectors' lists of titles, band parts required, and general chit chat on new finds, recovered lost collections, copies of music for exchange, and other related subjects. Also musicians wanted/available".
