Soon after the death of British dance band leader Bert Firman, in April 1999, I was contacted by my colleague Joe Moore who told me that the name of the 'Bert Firman Dance Orchestra'
would live on, the rights to the name had been given to two musicians, Pete March and Guy Rowland, who had befriended Bert Firman several years ago. Pete and Guy have arrangements for music performed by Bert Firman's Dance
Orchestra and, under this same name, these performances will be heard again .
Pete suggested that the story of Bert Firman could have a place on this website so with their collections of memorabilia and records we are building pages in memory of Bert Firman and to celebrate the man and his music.
Bert wrote his autobiography several years before his death; it is being published soon by Pete March (extracts have now been removed from this website).
