Introduction
The Edison Diamond discs listed below are a sample of the more interesting sides to be found in the Edison Catalogue. Prices are based on personal experience and reported Auction prices, and assuming the discs are in E condition. Some of the later sides by such as B.A.Rolfe, although often only well-played 'straight' dance tunes are nevertheless much collected and have been known to command high prices. The more run-of-the-mill Edisons (and there are plenty!) can usually be picked up for £2.00 to £5.00 depending on content and condition.
The Lateral Edisons, regardless of content, nearly always go for high prices owing to the very short time they were on sale.
When bidding for Edison Diamond Discs in a mail auction, it is as well (if possible) not to bid on any advertised as less than E condition. Edison discs are not the easiest to grade accurately, and those less than E can sometimes have scratches, etc, which seem more noticeable than on a lateral recording.
