Magazines and newspapers often advertised dance music and entertainment appearing in local theatres and dance halls, or broadcasting on radio stations.

1. The advertisement below is from the Radio Pictorial of 1939, in fact from the week that war with Germany was declared.


as well as Arthur Askey, Al Bowlly and Marjorie Stedeford, the radio programme was featuring the Southern Airs a singing trio which included Frank and Jack Trafford (of Rhythm Brothers fame with Lew Stone and Ambrose).
